WEAR IT Festival, Berlin
We believe that it is timely and urgent that critical questions on the use and deployment of wearable devices are raised on a larger scale, and that their users become more aware about the related dimensions of environmental, social and business impacts of developing and using wearable technology and smart textiles. By building this knowledge, we believe that researchers, developers and the industry can improve processes, and play a more active role in building sustainable and ethical wearable futures.
In the Sustainable Wearables track we address various environmental and social sustainability challenges that arise with the growing market of wearable and smart textile products. Invited designers and ICT experts present their solutions and discuss possible paths to address some of these issues.
The track is curated by members of the WEAR project – a European funded initiative to engage art, design and creative industries to work more closely with technology and engineering industries, to shift the development of the wearables and e-textile landscape towards a more sustainable and ethical approach.
