WEAR Sustain: Sustainability consultation at V&A E-Stitches
March 9 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm CET
WEAR Sustain invites you to participate in a consultation at the V&A Sackler Centre, from 4-6pm on Friday March 9th (pre-e-stitches meetup):
The consultation is to get feedback on the development of our WEAR Sustain Sustainability Strategy Toolkit, for future smart/e-textile and wearable technology design teams and development, which is one of the key outputs for the project.
The Sustainability Strategy Toolkit is intended to support, guide and facilitate future collaborations between artist/designer and technology collaborations, SME’s and stakeholders, and in the European smart/e-textile and wearable landscape, in particular between people from creative, fashion, textiles, medical, electronics and engineering industries.
The Toolkit will provide guidelines and best practices for future research, design, life-cycle analysis and supply-chain, materials sourcing, development and manufacturing toward ethical and sustainable wearable technology and smart/e-textiles, addressing the following categories:
1. Goals / assessment of the user (future design & technical teams) in using the Toolkit to help them further their ambitions (in ethical/sustainable way)
2. Format (i.e.website, workshops, webinars, training manual, print items)
3. Content (on ethical data management, non-collecting data approaches, labour practices; environmental issues: life-cycle analysis tools; supply chain: sourcing/materials, sub-contracting/outsourcing, manufacturing, recycling/reuse/repair; resources for ethical / sustainable: design, IP, business, funding models, etc; mentors/advisors, service providers, advocacy hubs, legal and business services, sources of funding), ethical and sustainable watchdogs and advisory groups & what else?
The consultation is intended to glean expert insight from across the field and build on your knowledge to enable us to build an in-depth, sustainable and comprehensive toolkit for future development and to use by the European Commission to future funding guidance.
